UC Davis English Department Professor Morton's latest book is a collection of essays that explore all aspects of food and eating in the Romantic period (1780-1830). This was a very significant period in food history when the modern "consumer" was born. Topics include fish and chips, Immanuel Kant on food, vegetarianism, cannibalism and bread fruit.
